Graphic To Start
In this configuration you can enable for a object (like a particle graphic) to travel from a set location to the abilities starting position during the preparation stage. This configuration will only show if the ability has been set with a prepare time.
Unless a duration greater than 0 has been set the graphic will be destroyed at the end of the preparation stage just before the ability initiates.
The graphic to start object does not interact with anything and is only useful for preparation aesthetic purposes. For example an ability can be setup so at the preparation stage the character will summon down a lightning strike from the sky to their hand before they then send it off in the direction of enemies.
This functionality in a nutshell will make an object appear at determined position which will then travel towards the abilities official starting position during the preparation stage
You can also use this functionality to make a grenade or arrow appear early during the preparation stage before it is initiated, travelling from the character's hand. To do this simply set the arrow/grenade to appear already in the ability official starting position (like a hand), so the graphic doesn't need to travel.
Starting Position
The first section allows for you to set where the graphic object will start from before moving towards the abilities official starting position. When setting the starting position you also have the option to offset from the starting position. For example increasing the Y value will move the ability up x amount from the starting position.
The following starting positions can be selected:
Starting Position
Information
Self
Graphic will spawn at the origin point of the entity that activated the ability
Target
Graphic will spawn at the current target of the entity. If no target is selected and âAuxiliary SoftTargetâ is ticked then the graphic will as a backup appear at the current soft target of the entity.
If no target/soft target is selected then the graphic will appear at the entity as if âSelfâ was selected
On Object
Graphic will spawn at the Object defined in additional setting âSelect Objectâ. Any object in the scene can be dragged or selected
On World
Graphic will spawn at the current world target position that has been selected by the player
Camera Center
Graphic will spawn at the current camera position.
On Tag
Graphic will spawn on the first tag found in the scene which matches the tag selected in the dropdown
On Self Tag
Graphic will spawn on the first tag found on the entity activating the ability which matches the tag selected in the dropdown.
Current equipped weapons are prioritised in this search allowing you to tag each weapon the same but have the Ability always appear on the weapon currently equipped.
Travel
The travel section is where you define how long it takes for the graphic object to reach the abilities official starting position
If the 'Seconds To Target' duration is set to 0 then the graphic will not travel to the starting position and will instead stay where it spawns until the duration is up or initiation starts
In this section you can define how long it takes for the graphic to reach the starting point, the delay before travel starts and if it moves and hovers once it reaches the target
Graphic
The last section of the configuration allows for you to either select or drop in a graphic object or tick the 'Use Original Projectile" Settings which will use the abilities original main graphic instead of a new separate graphic/object.
"Use Original Projectile " will create the main ability object graphic early making it travel towards its starting position from the set location. If the original ability is used then it will not be destroyed at the end of the preparation stage and will not interact until it has been initiated.
